Every movie tells a story.
Movies are the parables of today.
We sit in the cinema or stick in a DVD and let directors, scriptwriters and actors influence our lives.
As followers of Jesus, we choose to engage culture, our desire is to see how God’s view of reality fits with the realities we experience on our screens.
We've pressed "Pause" on The Bigger Picture for the time being. Check back later to see which movie we will be exploring next.
So far we've looked at "Our need for a hero". Delving into the world of the superheroes: Superman, Batman and Spiderman. What is it about these movies that strike a chord with so many? Is it the action or is there more going on? What is the bigger picture?
We've also investigated the theology of star wars. What was Gerge Lucas thinking of when he started this saga? What's with the Jedi and the "the force"? Do these movies have anything to say about the human condition and the world today?
More recently we've watched and commented on the following films:
Alfonso Cuaron's "
Children of Men
"
Roberto Benigni's "
Life is Beautiful
"
Guillermo del Toro's "
Pan's Labyrinth
"
If you've seen any of these films and would like to comment then please leave a message in the Bigger Picture Forum below. Or let us know of any films you've seen recently that have left a lasting impression.
