What do the children do on Sundays?

We currently have two groups for the children on Sunday mornings; Live Wires for children aged 3-6 and The Grid for children aged 7-11. Once they start secondary school, the children join the youth who have their own group. Please see youth pages for further information.

Live Wires (Age 3-6)

Live Wires is for children aged 3-6 years. We spend our time together on Sunday mornings on a variety of activities, including free play, story time, sung worship (with help from some of the older kids), simple crafts and active games.

At this stage in their life, the children are just beginning to form their own picture of God. This image will be  based on the snippets of information they acquire through their experiences of the world around them. We want to assist them in that process by telling them Bible stories, helping them to pray and sing to God, and by providing a safe environment for them to ask questions.

We use a variety of tools and methods to help Sunday mornings run smoothly. Why not ask one of the Live Wires to tell you about Archie (our blue fluffy parrot puppet), or the story sack and their story mats! We also use a prayer cube to help us pray, and a star chart to reward good behaviour and contributions

The Grid (Age 7-11)

The grid - curved square

The Grid is for children aged 7-11 years. We use our time together on Sunday mornings to worship God, get to know Him better, share in ministry times and HAVE FUN! We play games, share our news from the week, discuss what we’re learning, create some crazy crafts and sometimes we even devise & perform our own sketches.

By the time the children enter The Grid, we hope to see
them cultivating their own personal relationship with God. They are encouraged to listen to Him and share what He’s saying, and to ask and share when something is troubling them. We give opportunities for them to pray out loud in a large group, and more intimately for one another in smaller groups.

And, just like the adults, we also encourage the children to get involved by serving others on Sunday mornings. Jobs include helping the younger ones with their worship time and welcoming newcomers.

Worship

Mark HarbourAt Coventry Vineyard we are passionate about encouraging a culture of worship in our children and young people as well as in the grown-ups! We have a fantastic team of worship leaders who are committed to leading a time of sung worship with The Grid children 3 times a month. We believe that by making the song choices age-relevant, and by coming together in a less formal environment, the children are more inclined to engage with God.
